Galliano and the Word formed in 1994, an instrumental group, originally consisting of piano, drums, bass and violin. So began a love affair with instrumental music by Melbourne pianist Galliano Sommavilla. His style of music, formed from various musical influences, includes Italian pop, classical, orchestral pop, solo-piano, rock and cinematic soundtracks. An album, Rain in My Bathtub" was recorded and released in 1995. The sad passing of a band member cut short what was a promising, successful partnership.
Since then Galliano has continued to perform as a solo artist. There was always going to be a defining moment when thoughts of a new band would come to fruition. It has been a while coming, it has been a long time coming....
